Our Vision

A world where every child and young adult, regardless of background has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive with dignity, hope, and purpose.

Our Mission

At More Blessed to Give, our mission is to extend compassion through action, empowering lives by alleviating poverty, advancing education, and restoring hope. We provide tuition support for students in need, supply essential food and clothing to struggling families, and equip young learners with the tools and materials to succeed. Through every act of giving, we seek to build a community where kindness multiplies and opportunity flourishes.

Our Story

On Christmas Day in 2010, Mope joined two close friends Temilolu and Gbugbemi, along with two other ladies, on what seemed like a simple act of kindness that would soon become something much bigger. Temilolu had suggested they spend Christmas differently that year by cooking and sharing food with children at Makoko, Yaba, one of Lagos’ most underprivileged communities.

They loaded meals of jollof rice, chicken, and canned drinks into a Land Rover and set out to bring smiles to faces that Christmas morning. As the food was shared and laughter filled the air, Mo felt an indescribable sense of fulfilment, one that came from being used as an instrument of hope, love, and joy to so many in need.

When Mo returned to the UK in 2011, she longed to recreate that moment the following year. But plans fell through, and the outreach didn’t happen. Yet, the thought of making that simple act of love a consistent, annual tradition refused to leave her heart.

During those quiet reflections, Acts 20:35 came alive to her:  “In everything I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself: It is more blessed to give than to receive.” That verse became both a calling and a name More Blessed to Give (MBTG).

In December 2013, Mo made a solo trip to Oko Baba, another destitute community in Lagos, and carried out the first outreach under the MBTG name. By 2014, a small group of passionate friends led by Fiyin (Secretary) and Mope (Chairman) came together to make the initiative official committed to sharing love, food, and hope with those in need.

In 2018, MBTG expanded its mission beyond outreach to empowering young Nigerians, providing scholarships, paying school fees, and supporting students who, though gifted and determined, were limited by financial barriers. By 2019, MBTG had conducted its sixth annual Christmas outreach, returning to Oko Baba, where the blind, lepers, and disabled seek refuge from the harsh realities of Lagos’ streets. Located beside Makoko, Oko Baba is a community marked by deep hardship, but also resilience, warmth, and humanity. What began as a Christmas food drive has since grown into a movement of compassion, empowerment, and education.

As of 2025, More Blessed to Give has:

  • Reached over 10,000 children, women, and men through food drives and community support.
  • Sponsored 10 students annually through higher education.
  • Partnered with universities and polytechnics to provide materials and resources for academic growth and mentorship.
  • Partnered with Smile Train to provide a forever smile and second chance to a child living with an untreated cleft.

Every meal shared, every scholarship funded, and every smile inspired reflects one truth, that love multiplies when given.

At More Blessed to Give, we remain devoted to creating ripples of kindness that uplift families, educate the next generation, and remind the world that the true blessing lies not in receiving, but in giving.
